I have been absent for WAY too long. Sorry to all my followers. hah. It has almost been a year since I last blogged and a lot has changed. For starters, I have a *new* job and it could not be more wonderful. I work for a caterer...on a farm! (Elizabeth Heiskell at Woodson Ridge Farms) So I go to work everyday to a farm, which is really neat. The farm has 22 plots of planted vegetables at a time. Right now we are coming to an end of all our spring crops and slowly sneaking up on our summer crops. Currently squash and zucchini of all shapes and sizes, onion, cabbage, cauliflower, and lettuce are being harvested. Once summer is in full swing we will have tomatoes coming out of our ears. Rumor has it that there were 10,000 tomato plants planted. That will be fun.
When it is warm and pretty outside sometimes mexican is a craving of mine. It also doesn't help when I watch Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and Guy Fieri is eating mouth watering pork tacos. I have been trying to eat all natural lately. For me, that means eating non-processed foods. Foods that have come straight from the ground. This can be difficult when you are carb-lover like I am.
So tonight, I attempted to satisfy my craving and try to stay healthy with Ground Turkey Tacos.
My Grocery List:

Corn Tortillas
Ground Turkey
Avocado
Cabbage (from the farm)
Onion (from the farm)
Cilantro (from my herb pot)
Lime
Cumin
Chili Powder
Garlic Powder
Cayenne Pepper
First I cooked the turkey. After it was cooked I added 1-2 tbs chili powder, 1 tbs cumin, 1/2 tbs garlic powder, and a dash of cayenne pepper. Added about 3/4 cup water, brought it a boil, turned it down to a simmer and let the spices seep into the meat.
Once that was cooked I chopped up my cabbage (from the farm), onion(from the farm), cilantro (from my herb pot) and avocado.
I warmed the corn tortillas in the microwave with a damp paper towel for 15 seconds.
Assemble tacos, squeeze some fresh lime juice and ta-da!
